Sweet Surrender — A Display of Desserts Inspired by the Roaring 20′s

August 7th, 2012

When favorite floral fashionista Aileen Tran from Karen Tran Florals called to discuss a new design concept for a decadent dessert station, we were all ears.  Drawing her inspiration from the fashion of the Roaring 20′s, Aileen crafted this amazing display and asked J Grace to create a suite of paper goods to compliment her design — YES PLEASE!  Keeping to the color palette of all metallic hues, we chose an assortment of patterned handmade papers to incorporate into the design.  Luxurious dessert cones complete with a tassel and small crystal and pearl brooch, custom monogram seals dripping with swarovski crystal embellishments and “Sweet Dreams” take home candy bags were produced with pleasure.  Although the inspiration was born from an era of long ago, and boasted an assortment of heirloom vessels and vintage serving pieces, the concept of  including a dessert station into today’s wedding is very modern and all the rage.   Why not surprise your guests with something sweet beyond the expected slice of wedding cake?

Many Thanks to Terri Rippee for these beautiful photos and Exquisite Weddings Magazine for featuring this visual feast!

Je T’aime Coco Chanel — Exquisite French Wedding Decor

February 26th, 2012

Oh Coco how we adore you!  How we bow down to your flawless fashion sense, attention to detail and oh how we hope that if you were able, you might happily grace us with your presence at this table set as a tribute to fabulous you.

Inspired by fashion royalty Coco Chanel and its 2012 line,  j grace partnered with Karen Tran Florals to create this dreamy french wedding.  It began with careful study of the current fashion line, observing Chanel’s talent for combining soft and hard textures, simple tweed patterns, and of course pearls.

A variety of fabrics were purchased in hues of white, ivory, blush and black to create custom dessert platters, upholstered chairs and wedding menus.  j grace created three different menu designs and unified all by using the same soft white silk and black ostrich feather florette.  In addition, we designed a couture boxed invitation complete with a ragged edge tweed and pearl brooch ornament that guests could easily remove and use as a favorite fashion accessory in the future — ooh la la!

Karen Tran Florals worked tirelessly to create a display of delicate french pastries and this chic table top boasting intricate floral design infused with luxurious jeweled embellishments.

Randi & David – -an Elegant Starfish Themed Wedding at L’Auberge Del Mar

August 3rd, 2011

Whereas it is always an honor to be entrusted with a happy couple’s stationery design, when the opportunity comes to create something special for a friend, it is truly an honor beyond measure.

J. Grace was delighted to work with this extraordinary couple for several months creating an entire suite of custom starfish inspired stationery.  The tone was set as guests received boxed invitations from our couture collection featuring a natural starfish embellished with an exquisite crystal brooch.  We carried their wedding monogram and seaside theme throughout all aspects of their ceremony and reception stationery including darling program booklets with a lovely note of thanks to the wedding guests and explanation of Jewish wedding ceremony traditions, starfish with guest names and table assignments tied with scrumptious hand-dyed silk ribbon to serve as elegant and unexpected place cards, and my personal favorite… luxurious silk board wedding menus complete with swarovski crystal embellishments.

Always our top posh pick for florals and event decor design, Karen Tran Florals transformed the L’Auberge Del Mar Resort into  fantasy land of  elegant seaside inspired design.  Maintaining the couples contemporary taste and neutral color palette of soft whites and shimmering champagne, Karen Tran meticulously incorporated the signature starfish symbol of their wedding throughout her floral creations and all decor decisions.  Bravo Karen!

Many thanks to the talented Darin Fong for sharing these stunning images.

Exquisite Pink and White Wedding Decor Details

March 29th, 2011

Details. Details. Details.  There is no better way to create a truly unique and unforgettable event than paying special attention to adding exquisite details that your guests can discover throughout the day.

During the recent Soolip Bridal Event in Orange County, California, the team at Karen Tran Florals showcased their talents by creating this stunning table top using a palette of petal pink, ivory and touches of sherbert hues.  At first glance it is of course beautiful… but it’s the second, third and fourth glances and the discovery of countless details that will keep your guests talking for days.

Floral designs were displayed using boxes in several shapes and sizes wrapped with scrumptious silk and then adorned with anything from rows of blush toned ostrich feathers, vintage crystal brooches and my personal favorite, little handmade rosettes carefully constructed from frayed dupioni silk.  Gorgeous!

J. Grace contributed couture menus to this lovely display using ivory silk pocket boards enhanced with handmade embossed mother-of-pearl paper, double faced satin ribbon and layers of shimmering card stock complete with swarovski crystal embellishments.
